exicited about upping power

So I have had our pontoon for 6 years. Its a 1987 22' Chinook with a 50hp Evinrude. Well it's been running poorly the end of last season and the one time we took it out this year. So I went out and bought a smaller 15' ski boat with a 1975 Johnson 115 on it. Now I can't wait to try the 115 on the pontoon (it's rated up to a 125). It currently has a 14x19 prop on it which should be about right for the pontoon. I think it needs lots more pitch on the little boat. I haven't tried out the little boat yet but compression was decent, the boat and trailer were in good shape and it was only $950 total! I want to maybe keep the little boat and will either swap the 50 to it or figure a way to swap motors back and forth, we'll see if it's as much fun as it looks or if we should just stick to the pontoon and maybe get a jetski also. Our pontoon has square welded pontoons with a slight V bottom on them. The 50 would push it 14mph on gps with 1 or 2 people and not much gear. I'm hoping it might almost plane with the 115 which should get it into the 30's. Now if only I could get a few days off to try it all out!

Sounds like you got a good deal on that 115hp with the boat. It also sounds like you have some work ahead of you, transfering over all of the components of the engine and throttle linkage. Good luck to you, and get us some before/during/after pictures when you get a chance. :coffee
