My 1st weekend with new boat
Well I got my new Bennington on Thursday July 1st, all I can say is awsome. I love it. We put about 15 hours on it this weekend and had an unbelievable time. I did have a minor issue though. On the 1st day I hit a rock and singed up the prop and busted the bottom fin. The prop is stainless so it was still usable. I went out the 2nd day and bouht gps. No problems since. I did leave it at the dealership last night because it was leaking oil. Thank god for insurance and warranties. The boat is awsome. I got it up to 36 yesterday with the bimini up and 4 adults 3 kids. It takes the big wakes unbelievably well. I was tottally impresses. My wife and kids loved it. The motor has tons of power and is wicked quite. I am not sure if it was motor oil or gear oil leaking but it was leaving a oil slick everytime we stopped. Hopefully a minor issue. I am having the 20 hour service done while it is in as well as my trim Gage adjusted and a snap replaced. I am a die hard tooner now. Hope you all had a great 4th.

Make sure they check that the prop shaft is not bent. If it is leaking oil, there is a good chance it is. Also, a GPS is no substitute for a depth/fish finder. I would never boat the lakes I frequent with out one.

Re: My 1st weekend with new boat
I have a fish finder/depth finder, I wasnt looking at it because I was in the middle of the lake and hadn't seen any bouys. This is a tough area to navigate. lots of rocks in the imediate area. The GPS gives me advanced warning of the bouys. They are way hard to see. It is jus a piece of the saftey puzzle and has made it way easier to navigate. That and friends showing me the way. The lake is the largest in NH. It is a puzzle of coves and large expanses that all look alike. They say it is one of the hardest lakes to navigate. 5 times out and I am getting comfortable.

( have had 4 other boats before) i just ordered a benni 2275rlci and hope my 1st time out will be like yours (lol). Was wondering is there anything you recomend adding to the boat? perhaps the GPS they offer. i still have plenty of time to change things on the boat.

One of these would be a nice addition

I may spring for a hds 5 later this year or next. Only got interested in these since I struck a submerged tree, before that I just relied on my depth finder an visual but when obstacles are right at or just under the water it makes it tough. I don't really do any boating at night but if you did it sure would help out.

Re: My 1st weekend with new boat
1500 in Damage. Needed a prop repair, skeg welded and painted and a new prop shaft and seal. Not the news I wanted, but I have insurance. I also had a unrelated oil leak that is being covered under warranty. What options have you ordered already? I got almost all of them on my boat. I went crazy, but I don't regret any of them. I absolutley love the boat. Bunk with snap in carpet was a last minute decision that i am really happy with. I also added the dual battery option and that is. A no brainer in my mind. The bow gate seat is really nice as well.

Re: My 1st weekend with new boat
Still waiting to have mine. I ordered a 2275GLI with the swim platform and two fishing chairs on the back and a 90 hp Yamaha 4 stroke. It was ordered on April 16. They gave me a ship date of June 7. That date came and went and the dealer couldn't get an answer why. Bennington wouldn't answer questions or return phone calls. I finally got the number for Daniel Hahn(sp?) who claims to be a VP and part owner. He explained they had problems with suppliers and more orders than expected and production would be delayed by one month, but only one month. The June 7 becomes July 7 and we have it at my dealer in Canada by the 10th. July 7 comes and no boat is built. After a few tries I get ahold of Daniel on his cell phone(anyone having the same problems can pm me for his number) and get more empty promises and another guarateed date of July 12. It is now July 14 and the boat is not done. I emailed Bennington through the website explaining how frustrated I am that I can't get any answers or dates locked down. I received the automated reply that they had received my email and someone would reply soon. I have not had a reply to my email complaining that I can't get any answers from them. The reason we picked the Bennington was the quality of product but I am worried at the conduct of this company. I have not cancelled my order but on Friday I will if it has not been shipped. Even if I get it I will be worried the company will shut down or go under and any warranty will be void. The management seems to be nonexistant.
Re: My 1st weekend with new boat
WesT.... no way bennington will go belly up. Too big a company. I know this won't alleviate your frustration with the overdue boat, but when I ordered my benny last fall, I ran into the same thing. Not there on the scheduled due date. The only difference between yours and my situation was after I emailed Bennington, I got a call from the regional sales rep. He apolgized for the delay but gave me a new delivery date and he was true to his word. I would recommend holding off canceling your order, because the odds are good that if you go to buy a different boat, and it's not already sitting at the dealership, then there's a good chance you'll run into the same thing again. Not only that from all that I've read you ordered a damn nice rig.... just look back at 1roadkings post... he loves his benny and if memory serves me, he had the same issues with his boat not being delivered when promised either ( I hope I'm right on that ). Your call my friend, but with every passing day your boats that much closer to getting there. Good luck and I hope they deliver your boat real soon.

Re: My 1st weekend with new boat
It really bothers me when I read about the shitty customer service that Roadking and others had to deal with when buying their new boats. This is what is happening to our country. The I dont give a shit about the consumer has become the norm. These guys spent a shit load of money to buy the boat of their dreams only to be jerked around and flat out lied to. From what I have read. I will never buy a Bennington and I think they are a fantastic boat. But if they treat every one that way and it sounds like they do. From the CEO down to their dealers. They will never get any of my money. A little customer service and integrity go a long way. JMO
