I've searched on here for discussions on these aftermarket hydrofoils that you can bolt on to the existing cavitation plate and increase control, decrease prop blowout and so on...haven't seen much discussion on it. Has anyone tried these on a pontoon boat and does it help any?? I had what I would consider prop blowout this past weekend in some heavy chop and it was driving me crazy and not allowing the toon to stay up on plane with the lifting strakes. It may also have something to do with the waves hitting the under side of the toon and slowing it down as well. I would notice odd sounds coming from the motor/prop like when I trim the motor to far up but I was trimmed all the way down. Once out of the major chop, it ran just fine again. Does anyone think this plate might help?? I was looking at one called the SE sport? Thanks,

How far down is your motor. Mine is a 25'' shaft and set at the lowest setting. I have been out in heavy chop with no problems. Is it possibe your motor is set to high?

I have one on mine, It stopped the prop blowout and in increased the height of plane. before I put it on, I could hardly get the boat to plane. It is a little harder to steer at full throttle, like when you pull a tube. I am very satisfied with it.

I installed one on my Party Cruiser and it eliminated prop blowout.

I was told they take some of your top speed away... is that true?

I have one more bolt I could drop the motor. I think mine is the long shaft (25") from what to what do you measure? My prop centerline appears to be about 3-4 inches above the bottom of the toons. It looks to be well below the water level?

Didn't change my top speed at all.

That sounds high to me. The prop should be completely below the toons, or at least mine is. I've never had a problem with prop blow out, and I have a 26 footer and have ridden some 3-4 foot waves with her.
