The back end of pontoons

has anyone seen a design on a back end of a pontoon that exits the water better than the traditional round shape?
Seems like a lot of speed is lost due to the drag on the back end of the toons at high speed.
thoughts?
Seen any thing?

Old Harris and Aloha toons used a torpedo shaped rear. Don't know how that would effect speed

It's the round shape that give strength to the toobs. They have in the past made toobs with flat bottoms and W shapes, but didn't seem to catch on.

My Kennedy 20' toon has Octagon toons which plane out, They use to make up to 28' pontoons but have moved into the Mini pontoon range now only building up to a 17x7. There were/are fairly popular pontoons in the upper midwest. Ercoa is another company that builds flat bottom "hexagon" shaped tubes. My toon planed out at around 22mph with 2 toons and I just added a 3rd one that I modified from another Kennedy by building a transom in the back and can now get up on plane at 16mph.

The only thing I have seen with a different rear end is this thing!
(Go to you tube and search for "Fastest Pontoon Boat" and you will see a boat with twin 300HP Etec's (He claims that he hits 80MPH! When one guy challenges his claim he tells the guy...YOU COME SKI BEHIND ME AND I WILL VIDEO THE GPS IF YOU GOT THE COURAGE!)
