I have 2006 suntracker with 90 merc 2 stroke. Last couple of times out motor has been bogging down when i try to go above 4400 rpm. It felt like prop was spun but when i took out of water that was fine. When i return back down to 4200 rpm boat rides fine... Im not much of a mechanic so i was wondering if anyone might know where to start before i take to shop and get pounded for big bucks. Im hearing change water pump and thermostat ....and then people are telling me possible fuel tank problem.. Any suggestions would be helpful Tanx Jeff

Check that your fuel bulb is staying hard. If not check the check valve where fuel line connects to tank. Mine had a little check valve that was sticking and was loosing fuel prime.

It could be several things causing your problem...going by your description it sounds like its starving for fuel..so...You need to start by cking your basics here...spark, fuel and Compression...Do you have Gray colored fuel line coming from the fuel tank to the engine?

I have to agre with the others check your fuel line. Also could Have water in the fuel or varnish. Try something to remove that check the fuel filter and carbs. Mine did the same thing this last weekend I found yesterday it was just a crimp in the fuel line right before the connector to the engine. Also is your fuel/oil ratio right? If you have too much oil it will bog it down as well.
