Old Pontoon

#1 Post by Hghlndr » Sun Jul 18, 2010 8:18 pm

First off I would like to say I'm new to the site. I have been reading for a while and finally joined. Now to the question. I went today to look at a pontoon. It is real old, but the pontoons look like they are in good shape. The deck is solid, but it needs carpet and some additional furniture. My main concern is that I have never seen a boat like this. It has U-shaped pontoons, but there are two on each sized connected with some kind of clamp. Has anyone ever seen one like this? I can't really pass it up. The lady only wants $300 for it and it has a 50 hp Mercury. Thanks in advance.

I don't have any pics yet. I should have snapped some with the cell today. I figured if it was completely shot it would be worth more than that at scrap prices. Not to mention the motor and furniture.

Can't go wrong with $300, the aluminum might even be worth that in weight than the 50hp merc might fetch 3-500 on craigslist, does it have a trailer, if so thats worth 3-500 also right there..

We really need pictures to tell ya what boat your looking at. However, I agree, you can't go wrong for $300. If the motor runs, it alone would be worth $500.

Clamp or extruded C-channel? If C-channel, it might be a Sundancer.

What happens at the lake stays at the lake. Unless I have my camera handy.
