Hi new to forum and love the info here but i need some advice, I have found a good deal on a 2008 Fisher 220 DLX but the motor on the boat is a 1996 FORCE 90 ELPT dont know what that stands for but maybe someone can tell me, I love the pontoon but am leary of this motor, i fired it up and let it run for a few but did not get to take it out on the lake, i would like to know from personal experience how these motors are as far as performance and longevity. Thanks

I think Merc owned them then. They were plain jane motors, most didn't have oil injection so you have mix your own. I don't think I ever saw one with trim and tilt. Lots are still running but parts getting hard to find.

Welcome

Think I would keep on looking, or it you really like the boat see what an 08 to new 90 would cost you. Then see if that total out lay is more than what a comparable boat is running price wise. Seem the boats an motors depreciate at near the same rate while trailers not so much. Here is a little info http://www.boatmotors.com/outboard/force/ (not one of the more popular for resale)

ELPT= Electric Start, Long Shaft, Power Tilt and Trim. If the motor has good compression and runs then go for it. I would value the motor at $500 if it runs for purposes of calculating the value of the combination. Parts are real hard to find but if you get hold of the fact that you'll get new motor when that Force is toast I think you'll be ahead of the game.
