So what are you guys using for fishing rod holders on the square rails?
I may have to reinforce one or 2 either way for flatheads, but for normal fishing?

thanks

I saw some on eBay... they had rod holders, drink holders and I think lantern holders!

I use a scotty rod holder with a squared off U bolt.
What about something like this below.

Drift master are the only ones I have found that are solid. Scott's are ok on the right application if it is on open rail with no seats or tin interfering with mounting. If the scotty's catch while pulling into a dock they can really damage the tin. I have heard but off the back a of a toon other than looks I prefer scotty's functionality.

I just installed the Scotty/Cabels brand since I already had the holders off my old boat. I really like the application of these. I am not a huge fun of the SCotty's, but since I had them......

I've been using the Scotty's (labeled west marine brand) and haven't had any problems. I also use the mounts that fit over the square rails, which means no drilling through the rails and since my boat was new last year the thought of drilling the rails wasn't appealing. I'm getting over it a little bit this year. Also, since the mounts use screws underneath if you want down the road moving them to another location is pretty easy and quick.

Fortunately I have enough open rail on my boat that we can mount them pretty much where ever we want them using the square rail mounts.

I m a little adverse right now to drilling, since 1) I may change my interior config, and 2) what if I dont like em int that spot.

I just saw these on the side of a link from above

Driftmasters work great. No worry with big flatheads if you are using them. Also, the mounts that attach to your rails are very unobtrusive when the rod holder is removed. The rod holder just screws into the mount so it only takes a few seconds to put the rod holder on or to remove it.

Plus with the reel between the front and rear supports you won't loose your rod to a big fish or hangup.

what angle/model are you guys using? since the angle is not adustable I have to pick carefully I guess
I ll probably get 2 and I have 2 plastic BPS models that I am going to modify to work for the lighter stuff.

2 weeks ago this guy caught a 47lber from a spot we left.

I use the ones shown. I like my rod straight out not angled up.

Everybody on Lake Conroe says Bee Ready Rod Holders are the best. Most drift for Catfish weighing 50+ lbs. and have had no issues. Bee Ready also makes brackets to clamp on square rails. http://www.beereadys.com/
