Pictures of the new Toon! *** HAM ALERT

#1 Post by Thommes » Fri May 13, 2011 1:25 pm

Finally have pictures of the new toon to share. I'd like to hear what people think of the picture of the scratch. It's a brand NEW toon and came that way from the dealer.

HAM ALERT***** The dude with the glasses is Alex. He's a pig, I mean ham.

Very nice. As far as the scratch. Did you call the dealer when you got home? If not it is a crap shoot if they will do anything about it.

The good news is you won't out the first scratch on it. ;) my wife actually put the first scratch on mine and I still demi.d her of it all the time.

Thanks... They delivered it... 5 hours away. The guy wanted to get headed back and rushed me through the checkout of the boat. Don't think it's anything that I have to worry about? That's my main concern.

Looks good there Thommes.
Bet you can't wait to get her wet. :devillol :nana

Enjoy it, and I wouldn't worry about the scratch too much since it's on the log. If it were on the side skiriting, then I would say something.

Think I would forward the photo to the dealer. Is that a dent along with the scratch. That might have been why the guy was saying he needed to get on the road. Pretty sure the manufacturer would not have sent it out that way. That leaves the dealer and the transit guy. Got to check em close. I even went under mine when i picked it up and found two screws that were only driven in half way. Guess the lunch whistle blew while they were putting them in.
Any way I would see what I could do with the dealer unless he was having a scratch an dent sale.
Beautiful boat.

On a new boat I would get that fixed. It looks like that may have eaten half way through the metal. The only real fix, if that is true, is welding and polishing it out.
Use a dime as a depth gauge and see how deep it is. The metal is about .08-.1" That is about even with the top of FDRs head to the bottom of the "United States" lettering on the back.

I sat in a boat with that floor plan at the boat show last winter, that back area seems like a pretty cool idea.

Very nice looking boat, congrats. When it is going out for it's maiden voyage?

Very nice boat! I like the layout. I hope you and your family have many great times and memories.

The gouge is what it is, but you bought and paid for a new boat. I would make a little stink about it (firm but friendly) with the dealer and mfg. There is no easy, logistical way to make it right, everyone knows that, but you might end up with some compensation to fix it or, more likely, some free service or gear to put up with it.

Good luck.

More info on the scratch... the scratch is 2" long. As far as depth, a dime will fit in but barely goes past the rim of the dime. I will send the dealer an email. Sort of irked that I haven't had a single follow up call since the boat was dropped off. Here's the boat thanks for the money... don't care about your business cause you're five hours away so we won't checkin on you...

The scratch doesn't look like much but I would be asking for a discount, you wouldn't accept a new car with a scratch like that would you?
