Reasonable price for 20' Premier Horizon?

#1 Post by WKP » Tue Jun 14, 2011 4:13 pm

Hi - I joined recently and have been lurking for few days, just soaking up all the great information (and, yes, a little BS! ) on here. It's a really great resource.

I'm about to buy a used pontoon and would appreciate opinions. It's a 20' 1996 Premier Horizon model with a 75hp Mercury Force. Motor sounds/runs great, carpet in good condition, no upholstery issues (good color, no tears), Hummingbird fish finder, cover and swim ladder. It's set up for 4-point fishing, but includes a pop-up changing room. No dents worth mentioning, and the 'toons have been nicely cleaned. The only cosmetic problem is a small tear in the bimini, but it's faded and needs to be replaced anyway. $5,700, including a trailer. Sound reasonable?

Thanks

- Kerry

Sounds good to me. On the torn bimini, they've got a tape to repair it from the underside. It's one of those RV products--for travel trailer awnings.

The Premier is an especially good brand--good pick.

+1 Just be sure to take it on a test drive. Motors can sound great on muffs and die under load.

Glad to have you with us. Price is ballpark. Lake test would be a must, and any friends that may be familiar with boats would be good to have along also. I would not be too excited about the force motor but if it runs good.........it runs good. Best of Luck with your purchase.
