Two Pontoon Companys

#1 Post by mcconnell63 » Sat May 12, 2012 1:10 am

Hi, has anyone delt with Hotwoods or JC Boles and have info. on there boats. I'm looking for a 14 or 16 ft toon and these companys are the only ones that make small boats. Any help would be great. Thanks Al :coffee

How about Gillgetter?

http://www.gillgetter.com/

Hotboat is garbage IMO. To small of logs and JC Boles looks very cheap.

Grand Island makes a 16' boat, and you can purchase them with or without furniture.

They make'em slightly larger too.

I think a company by the name of Apex also builds small pontoons.

I would agree with lakerunner, gillgetter would be MUCH better than the 2 other companies you listed. I'll bet there are a few more companies that make smaller toons out there. Just a quick search

the gillgetter / quest boat site had some pretty cute little toons... If I knew for a fact that there would never be anyone but me and my wife on the toon, I would have at least looked at one of thier 16 foot fishing toons.... but normally people who buy toons do so knowing that they are going to have passengers... part of what makes the toon so good.

I believe most all of the major Toon manufacturers make smaller ones too, just most dealers don't stock the smaller ones. I know Premier makes 16, 17 and 18 footers too.

Ok guys, I checked the other comps and they were ok in style and price but I would have to pay for shipping which of course kills my budget. I called Chatlee boats who is about one hr. drive from me. They have two 15 ft x 7 ft pontoon models put out by sweetwater. One is a cruse and the other is a fishing floor plan. I'm waiting for Matt in sales to give me a price. Yesterdday Matt said they don't have the 15 ft toons in stock and he would have to order one. About 4 weeks. I hope the price is good and this weekend is the boat show in Raleigh but no 15 fters will be on diplay. I'm going to try and get a boat show price. Al :prayer

Good luck with that, and I hope the prices at YOUR boat show are better than at mine! Went to the boat show in Denver in January, and the prices were outrageous. No deals at all.

In fact, it seems like nobody in Denver is willing to make a deal at all!

That's why I bought my new toon in way northern Minnesota.

I was really surprised when I bought mine, that the difference between 18 feet and 24 feet was only $1,000.00
Of course, the difference between a 50HP Merc and a 115HP Merc was $2,500... You quickly justify a much higher price!

You may want to look at sun tracker bass buggy at any bass pro store. They start at $12k and go up from there.

Unless you on a small pond with no boat traffic you don't want to go below 20 foot for comfortable ride and not get thrown around by wakes.
