That looks great and should be a great help when loading. I'm glad you mentioned you were going to cut the lower parts of the round tube -- I thought they looked a little low and might cause problems. But I guess you can't cut those till you get your height set.

Great job!

Looking really good, Rob. Can't wait to hear report on how it works with your boat though I can't imagine a better pontoon guide design.

The report probably won't be for a few weeks now.....
I loaded to boat up the other day. It was perfect conditions (no wind at all) and the boat just glided right onto the bunks - I don't think it even touched the guides. Once home, I did the final adjustments, installed the 2x4 cross brace support and cut off the excess tube sticking down below axle height.
The boat has now been relaunched and is back at it's slip, hopefully for the remainder of the season. I'll probably be pulling it out in October - when I shall revisit this thread and give an update.

Looks Great. Just curious what the total length is. Also what is the height in the back compared to the front?

Thanks

Finally got some measurements for you.
The long bunks are 10ft. In the instructions it says to cut these to 9ft - but I didn't have instructions at the time I fitted mine, so they stayed at 10ft. The short angles pieces at the end are approx 14inches - but this depends on your toon and the width of your center section.
Rear height is 29.5" from trailer rails. Front is 18", so a difference of approx 11.5" over 7ft (the distance between the support bars).

Goodness gracious, those carpeted V bunks the boat's sitting on are high off the trailer. Too bad there's no way they can be easily adjusted down about 8". Do you have a hard time getting into shallow water ramps?

I love the 4C guides, however. They look like they'll do a great job for you.

Took the boat out today to fit a new fish finder. It was slightly windy but the boat went onto the trailer with no real issues. I think the guides helped a bit but didn't really feel any bumps of being pulled around into position.
It seems that they help to get aligned visually in the first place and give more confidence - or maybe I'm just learning to be slow and steady rather than trying to rush it.
So they still haven't had a really good test but so far I'm liking them.

With regards to the high bunks on the trailer, this is my first pontoon/trailer so I don't know any different. I have the choice of 2 public ramps local to me. My usual one is steeper and that is what I've set the guides up for. The other one is quite shallow - we've launched from there once with no issues apart from the dock not being long enough to make it easy.

I just ordered a set of these today. Last time I went to the lake, I measured the angle of the trailer frame on level grounded, and then the angle of the frame in the water. That was a 9 degree slope. So I figured if I set the rails at a 9 degree slope, I should come pretty close for angle.

I too, have trouble getting the back end centered on the rails. I usually have to pull it out, and then back it back in to Center it.
Cheers
John

Final update.....
The boat was removed from the water today for the winter ( ).
There was a slight crosswind and the guides did a great job of pulling me around and getting me straight on the bunks. No hassle, first time. I'm happy.

Would I recommend this product? Absolutely. I've not abused them like in the promo video but they do exactly what they're meant to do.

That looks like a very nice addition to your boat.

My tritoon sits on rack in a boathouse (hanging by 4 cables) that looks like a boat trailer. My bolsters are on the outside of the boat and they flare out the last 3'. When I come into my boathouse, the boat automatically centers itself on the rack. Too bad that outside bolster boards with a flare would be wider than the trailer.

I just ordered the same system. Are you able to install with the boat still on the trailer? Thanks

Yes you can without a problem. I did mine with the boat on you will just have to craw under the trailer to place the bolting brackets and get your measurements when installing. You will be very happy with the system. I have loaded my toon in wind blowing at 15+ and had not one problem. I only wish I had this system from the first day I purchased my toon. Enjoy the no more hassle of windy days.

I'm pretty sure the instructions say to do the install with the boat off the trailer, which is what I did.
But as seen in Gonefishing's reply, it can be done with the boat in place.

Personally, I'd take measurements with the boat on there, then empty the trailer to do the main part of the install as it will be a lot less bending over and hitting your head on the underside of the boat. I know mine is pretty cramped under there and moving around near the center tunnel while climbing over trailer cross members is a lesson in gymnastics - and I'm not a spring chicken any more.
Once the guides are on the trailer and roughly in position, then put the boat back on for final alignment as required.

edit - you should have most of the required measurements anyway as you probably had to fill out a lot of this on the order form - width, height, spacing etc.

Nice system. Now the stupid question. Comes with no wood or carpet for the rails, correct?
