Is anyone running the 2nd Gen F115? If it is on a pontoon are you running 2 or 3 logs and what length? Do they have lifting strakes?

I am bringing this up from a previous post/discussion and I am curious if anyone has re-powered with the 2nd gen.

I have a 115 FB. Bought new this July on a 22 ft G3 Sunchaser. Two logs. Boat runs 31 mph with two people. Forgot what damned prop I have . Motor is quiet as hell. Love it so far.

Thanks for the input. I am leaning towards a new 115 rather than purchasing a used 150+ because I get a true electronic interface and the yammi is top of category in power. If what I have read is true, that 115 is actually putting out 120. Good GPH on it also.

Yea, it does pretty good on fuel so far. I have ran 2 tanks thru it and should get even better as it gets fully broken in. The FB series does put out more juice than the FA series for sure. Somewhere around 5-7 hp.

I have the F-115LB hp - claims are with improvement 126 hp

Except for minor updates in 2011, which we engine was unchanged since its debut in 1999. While not a radical redesign, the new F115B offers improvements from top to bottom.
Displacement is increased to 1832cc from 1741cc. The double-overhead cam cylinder head has larger-diameter intake and exhaust valves that boost mid-range torque,
and flow through the engine is further enhanced by a new 60mm throttle body, revised intake with a tuned resonator, and a new exhaust design. The compression ratio is increased to 10:1 from 9.7:1,
but a more sophisticated knock sensor allows the new motor to run well on 87-octane fuel. The WOT range is bumped up, too, from 5000-6000 rpm to 5300-6300 rpm.
Yamaha says the new F115 is more powerful than the previous model, which was rated right at 115 hp, so I’m guessing the motor makes near the industry tolerance of 126 hp.

Also weights less
Nice Engine, but having even longer shaft installed due to cavitation issue on my Sweetwater.

The new model F115's are just now arriving. Don't they also have a counter rotating counter balancing shaft to smooth the idle.

I'm also reading about the new Mercury 115 FourStroke motor being a honey.

It'd be nice to see each of those motors mounted on an identical hull for comparison purposes. Those motors are especially popular with fishermen on welded hull aluminum bass boats.

The FB 115 was introduced last spring. It does have the counter balance shaft and is very smooth and quiet. I would go Yammy in a heartbeat with no reservations.

I wouldn't say the F115B is on top of the 4 stroke power range, its just finally feeling like a 115hp engine now, its just the old F115 1.75l and old Merc 1.7L 115s were pretty doggy for 115hp engines. The new 1.85L f115B make a lot more midrange and top end power than before but is still trumped by the new 2.1L Merc and old 2.0l Suzuki DF115 in low end grunt. Honda's 115 is a heavy beast but has gobs of low and midrange power. I know my original 03' F115 on my 17' Lund Adventure was significantly weaker than my Brother-in-law Suzuki DF115 on an identical Hull, he would kill me on hole shot and run 2 mph faster than me, and that was after I played around with props to find the perfect stainless and he had a stock aluminum. Also Yamaha has released a 130hp based on the 115B in other countries but not here yet. Nothing against Yamaha for me, I've got lots of Yamaha toys but I got a great deal on my 140 Suzuki.

I assuming that the Yamaha F-115B and F-115LB are the same engine and that either the controller or shaft length is different.
Anyone know for sure?

What boat and what speed are you looking for? I know its not what you asked about, but I have a 2015 F90 and its able to take my 22' Veranda to 27mph. Well, according to the speedo. Which some people will say is wrong. Need to test it with GPS
