Anybody have real world experience with the new merc 115, I was hesitant to buy it since its the first year and there previous rep for that hp. I've read all the claims but don't know anyone who has actually used one. like the look and the weight. just wondering. thanks.

The Mercury 115 FourStroke and the Yamaha F115's are both very new models, and it's doubtful many are on the water yet. I suspect they're going to begin showing up shortly.

Both motors appear to be very good. I think the F115 now has a balance shaft to smooth out the idle.

It'd be nice to see each motor mounted on identical hulls--for a complete comparison of the motors.

I would tell you that if you're wanting to buy a boat with 115 hp, test drive boats with each engine.

The 150 hp Yamaha and Mercury four stroke engines are substantially more powerful and 150 hp was well worth the price difference in performance for my use.

when I tested the boat in fall it had an older 90hp merc on it, it went very well with 6 people on it. the 90 was louder than i thought it would be, and a little rough w/ vibration. I don't know what year it was. I guess like you said there not out there much yet. I'll see hopefully in early may.

I have the FB 115 Yamaha. Love it. Quiet . Good fuel mileage and puts out nearly 126 h.p.

We have a 2015 115 Mercury motor on our boat. It is also the Command Thrust. My husband loves it because it's real quiet and should be easy to do annual maintenance work himself.

I would like to be honest and say so far we have taken the boat only once so I will come back to this thread when we have gotten more hours on it.

love to hear it. Lady GT your famous, you made pontoon deck boat magazine 2 months in a row. speaking of that magazine, what a useless piece of trash, how about an honest test run with pro's & cons once in a while. I guess it's just a manufacturers rag. its to bad the pontoon industry would benefit from a give and take.

What do you mean I am famous? Good or bad? I do not receive the magazine so would you share what was said?

I received a bunch of back issues because I wanted a sample of what I would be getting if I subscribed. I found it all to be pretty much positive advertising for high priced boats and not what I needed which was to learn how to care for my new boat as well as routine maintenance. The magazine is not trash, but needs to include other topics to benefit those who already own a boat.

Yea, trash is a little harsh. A few of your questions were just quoted from the forum into the magazine. while I'm at it thou, the run spots for example, winter prep or spring conditioning and alot of there material has nothing to do with pontoons or deck boats. seems like they throw stuff in to fill online space. How many times on pontoon forum are newbies looking for advise on a certain manufacturer? I know you and I both were. I wouldn't send anyone to the magazine for advice, thats to bad.I was going to start a thread about them but never did.

I think you should start a thread on the magazine to continue this conversation because we are now hijacking this thread. lol.
