Hey guys.. one of threads I saw here some time back was on boat storage... I recently moved my boat to a facility that just opened near my home and is much more convenient for us than where we used to keep it, although is does cost about $30 a month more than what I was paying... anyway when we went to get our boat today I decided to take a few pics to show the "SECURITY" features of our new storage place... When I pulled up to the gate, I got out to take a few pictures to post here... I'm out there about 5 or 6 minutes.. take a couple of pics and head back to my 4-runner.. just as I'[m getting in the truck, I see a couple of sheriff's cars pull in behind me and one of them politely asks me to please step to the back of the vehicle and keep my hands in plain sight... not a problem... when I tell them that I'm just there to pick up my boat they thank me for cooperating and tell me there was a silent alarm or some reason for them being there...... so here I am taking pics to post on boat storage security and the next thing I know I'm at the back of my truck talking to the police... talk about a coincidence... anyway here's a few pics ( sorry about the quality of the inside pics... lighting issues ) the first pics show the first of 3 gates and 3 set's of keypads you go thru to get to your boat ( in the first pic you can sort of see the "red storage building in the back ground ).. then a few pics from inside... brand new building, very well insulated.... and like I said, it's " ON THE WAY" to the lake.

Looks like a nice, roomy and SECURE facility, Roland! Also looks pretty easy to get your boat in and out of (at least for now, as it looks like you're one of the only "occupants").

Funny thing about that...the guy that owns it also owns an auction company.. He had been talking about building a boat and rv storage building for a year and I told him if and when he did, I wanted a spot... well after he built it ( it's about 16000 sq feet, not huge but nice and roomy ) he decided to start storing alot of his auction items in there... and believe me, when it's full of auction items, there aint much room left... when he's got alot of stuff in there theres no way you can turn a truck and boat around, I usually just unhook the boat from the truck and manually push the boat and trailer into the spot by turning the wheel on the trailer jack... he also has a battery powered cart that you can hook up to your trailer and move it that way also, but my boat is so light on the trailer it's less hassle to just push it by hand... however on days like the one pictured above, when he dosn't have a lot of stuff in there, I can pull in, turn around and back the boat into the spot... what I really love is that it's on the way to the lake... plus security is great, like I said, you have to go thru 2 gates each with separate keypads, and then a third key pad with a different code to get the building door to roll up.... security cameras out the wazoo in and aound the building... I hesitated renting the spot at one point because he was more expensive then the place I was using.. but I will come pretty close to making up that extra cost in gas savings...

$125 a month... was paying 85 a month at my old place, but it took me an hour to go and get the boat and come back to the house, and another hour to take it back and come home... plus right before I moved my boat, the old place raised their rate to 95 a month.. that made it easier for me to justify moving the boat... I'll make up the majority of that difference in cost in gas savings... but even more importantly... this place is soooo much more convenient... 5 minutes from my house, and 12 minutes from the storage place to the lake...

2 hours round trip vs 10 minutes round trip. Roland, you get your $30/month back in just a one-way trip when you consider the time saved. Nice looking facility. Your Benny looks happy there! :biggrin2

That alone is WELL worth the extra $30 a month. Between the fuel savings and the convenience, I don't think you'll regret doing it.
