Electrical help
I need a little help here guys. I installed a Depth Sounder over the weekend and while I was searching for a Positive feed with my light tester I touched a connection behind one of my other gauges. I got spark and now I have no ignition power. I still have power to my radio & lights but not to my gauges or ignition. Anyone have an Idea?
I'm hoping it's just a fuse but as you can see I'm not that bright when it comes to this stuff.

Re: Electrical help
I had a main fuse close to the battery blow. Took me a couple times to find it. You might look there, but my toon is almost 20 years old..

Re: Electrical help
It is a fuse in the motor if it was hooked to the ignition lead. Look in your owner's manual. There should be a fuse chart that tells the the size and location of each fuse. Mercury even puts a spare fuse in the snap around housing for the critical ones. YMMV

Re: Electrical help
Thanks guys. I'm going to check by the motor as soon as this rain lets up. I appreciate the replies.

Re: Electrical help
You blew a fuse, for sure. Check your bus bar first. The main fuse powers everything. If it was blown you wouldn't be getting power to anything else. Look for a wire coming from the ign. switch to the bus bar. That should be it. It also likely powers your lights in the gauges.
Look For The Burnt Fuse At The Bus.

Yep, most likely a fuse. Here's a wiring diagram:

Re: Electrical help
Wow. That Diagram is great. Thanks.
I'm hoping it's the fuse by the starter. My Marina is coming tomorrow to pick it up and put it in the water. I would rather find the problem and fix it myself than pay them to do it. Thanks again.

Re: Electrical help
You guys were right. It was the number 5 fuse (10amp). Right by the starter. Thanks for all the help guys.
Ed, that diagram was on the money. Thanks. That made it alot easier to find.
