Dog on boat and dock dog ramp
After a lot of looking I think this is hands down the best dog ramp for toons on the market. It looks like some dogs just like to lay in the water filled hammock. it's not cheep at $350 but our German Shepard thinks he's a Lab and loves to swim and he's more than worth it. I thing we'll get years of enjoyment out of it.

Re: Dog on boat and dock dog ramp
Awesome! We have a German Shepherd and he started swimming at 8 years of age trying to get to me when I was kayak fishing just off the shore...we now bought our first toon and can't wait to give him his first boat ride at age 9....

I didn't see anything like that before I made this loading platform for Mr Ed. He is 110# so whatever it is, it has to be sturdy.

I had remembered your ramp Greg and it's pretty cool. There's a couple of ramps with a similar idea that hang off your existing ladder and use chain to support it.

My problem is I didn't have a ladder. This also works great for swimmers tho. It works like a "swim out" in a pool, the model I used for the design height.

While I won't be spending $350.00 + for one, I will be fabbing one up for my 2 dogs soon. I have an idea of what I want to do, but I would really like to see anything else that people have done.

The only problem with the one I have is the weight. That Trex is about 40 pounds by itself but I wanted something strong enough for a 110 pound dog and me at the same time.

I like that a lot! If it had a drink holder, I'd float in it myself!
But I think it is about $150 beyond the "convince the wife we need it" price point.
For my money, I'll put anti-slip paint on a piece of plywood, bungee a seat cushion float to it, tie it to the ladder, and buy a new fish finder!

Re: Dog on boat and dock dog ramp
This really light folding and inexpensive aluminum motorcycle ramp has worked really well for us. For the doggies the sharp cutouts would be tough on their paws unless covered with some aluminum expanded mesh - which I need to do anyway to allow barefoot access. I've been lucky so far not to have any cut feet. I have to carry our pooch on and off but at 14 lbs. that's not really an issue.
I've considered attaching a couple of inflatable bumpers for flotation on both sides a couple of feet from the end that would allow it to extend below the surface and allow easy canine access.
Dogs love ramps, especially as they get older...
Even though he's an excellent swimmer our hound's doggie life vest is on at all times when in the water.

Re: Dog on boat and dock dog ramp
I finally took the camera with us today. This ramp was $350 plus freight, but I've got to say it's been worth every penny. Ranger LOVES this damn thing to the point where he almost becomes obsessed with it and won't stop jumping in the water to get that red lunker and bring it back for me to throw it in again. If I don't toss it back in the water he gives me that soft bark and look of "why can't you figure out I want you to throw that back for me to swim out to again???" He's my PTSD service dog who is basically joined at the hip with me. He goes to work with me everyday and everywhere else I go. Kind of like my shadow. It's just a great feeling to supply him with an activity he enjoys so much, it's a small payback for what he does for me everyday (he's a fantastic swimmer but we bought him a life jacket for peace of mind)

Chilln
We are both so blessed with beautiful Rangers. I have to ask you though
Does this Turn into this with yours? LOL I wish I had found that life jacket you bought. It looks much easier to get on. Trying to get my boy to place those big a-- paws thru a fairly small mesh opening can sometimes be LOL Really nice ramp you found!

Chillin & Fredboy..... those are both beautiful dogs..... I'm one of "those" animal lovers and I always get a smile on my face when I see pics of animals that are obviously with families that love and care for them.... Great pics.. thanks for sharing.
