Re: Pontoon Stuff provides materials to make my toon new
Yes sir I got three of them, I did get one of them out, but haven't tried pulling the seats on them yet as we been using all the spare time getting stuff clean, but can't wait to get to that part of the rebuild.
Can't wait to see the toons shined up, he said we can come get it Sunday afternoon, then we can start getting ready for the deck to go back on, Dad took the transom apart for me while I was still trying to polish the other day, they used regular plywood inside, it was totally gone to pieces, can't believe they didn't put marine grade wood in there, I'm sure they had to have a few pieces laying around the factory.
It it will have the good wood going back in the transom, Dad said he still has some rivets and the air powered gun from working on his bus, this will be a 2013 Bates Project that will be remembered, talked about and enjoyed for a long time.
Wonder if I can sneak the name MY DIXIE WRECK in there some where without getting beat.

Herb, did you check to see what it would cost to deck with aluminum? I'm guessing it's stupid expensive. Our toon was 4 years old when I bought it. It was a one owner. it has an aluminum deck. I wonder, is that a Tracker standard or an upgrade?

The deck I pulled off of it was good and only started going bad in one spot near the transom, and yes I would hate to see the price of it, I figure if we get the toon underskined it should last a 100 years the way this deck did, but then it was trailer stored it's whole life and having rollers instead of bunks help in cleaning when you get home.

Yep. It's called Duradeck and be glad your boat has it. It's exclusive to Tracker boats and has a lifetime warranty. After 2007-08 it became optional. Even the later model Party Cruisers come standard with plywood.chill'nthemost wrote:Herb, did you check to see what it would cost to deck with aluminum? I'm guessing it's stupid expensive. Thanks for the info Ed. Funny I never paid any attention to the decking until I first joined here, but it goes back to what's currently going on here. When it does come time, given the cost of a new toon I could use some of the ideas from Craig and Herb's build and have a "new" toon. The paint was still on the original prop when I bought our's in '04 and even though we go out most summer weekends we mainly just find a place to Chill, drop anchor, hang the BBQ, turn on the tunes, drink, eat swim and repeat. I've always been overboard anal about maintenance on everything I've ever owned. Unless the Publishers Clearing House van happened to pull up in front of my house one day, I'll probably keep this one for years. Most of our toons are basically well built docks with nice (replaceable) furniture and engines.

WARNING SUN GLASSES MY BE REQUIRED, still have some stuff to polish, but they got the biggest part done, and we could go over it a few more times and get a little more shine yet, but having it polished saved us a week of work and not having to look like we came out of a coal mine.

That why you find a truck stop with some good polishers near by and pay to have it done, my before pictures were so bad I need to make the after bad to the bone.
I still have to do a few places they didn't get, the motor pod and some of the rails that will show, the rub rails I left for us to do, but then I seen this engine pod we were thinking about switching to, should give me a little lift to the rear hanging down 19 1/2 inches and 113 inches long and 33 1/2 wide, they want 500., it holds 35 gallons of fuel, but then double that and we might be able to get a full pontoon with a transom, but then would still need a fuel tank some where.

Even checked the price of a new E-Tec, but I'm not getting my hopes up yet

Re: Pontoon Stuff provides materials to make my toon new
It cost us 50 bucks to acid wash then the polishing company hit us for 800., I'm polishing the stuff they didn't get but I know will be seen, I'm polishing the engine pod right now, we want that pod w fuel tank but waiting for a shipping quote, if it cost us 200 to ship it that would be 700 total, might be cheaper to get a middle pontoon for that need to search some more, jump in, suggestions welcomed
