After the ride I will stick with a Tritoon for sure. It will be used on Lake Havasu and it gets real tore up sometimes. Size? At least 24 but what ever I can find. They seem to be few and far between here on the west coast for under 20 grand. If I had 38 grand there are some great choices. Im not in a hurry much but would like to have one before the kids get out of school in June. Keep your eyes open for me and post links if you see one.

That why we ask where your going to be using it, I have never been to Lake Havasu, but know from pontoon friends there how rough it is there and 24 is the smallest you want to go and tri-toon for sure, so you would want a bigger engine on that lake too.

So now you know you need a tri-toon with a big engine and I say go 26 or 28 foot so now we just have to find you a good one

on that lake i'd say go big or stay home.
our 28 footer with 140 hp (3.0L) i/o is a good
size for when we go on the mississippi river,
but it'd be nice to have more power for the
times you want to get back or need to outrun
a heavy's huge wake. so like herb and others
i'd say 26 to 28 foot, the bigger i/o you listed
or a big outboard, and tritoon for that big lake.

Well I found what appears to be a nice 99 playcraft 26 footer with a 200 on it but its half was across the country. Any one near The Lake of The Ozarks?

Was just going to suggest you might want to check out of state. Not sure how boat prices are in Calif, but would think they are somewhat higher. Even if the trip cost you a grand and you saved 2 or 3 k on the boat it would be a worth while trip. Just make sure you get the proper documentation on the boat (title, registration, etc.) to satisfy the Calif law enforcement.

Not only look at the lenght of the toon but the dia size, a lot of the old toons had such a small dia toon that 4 or 5 would not be enough to make it ride good and not submarine. Just from the pictures I knew that the playcraft was junk. Keep looking you will find something that you like.

Check craigslist for Kansas City, Columbia/Jeff City, and Springfield will get most that are available at the lake. Also Boat Trader has lkae listings. Not sure how many Playcrafts.

If ya got an extra $80K laying around I know of a twin engined 28 foot Playcraft for sale.

What happens at the lake stays at the lake. Unless I have my camera handy.

Todays toon is a well built boat. Most differences are in fit and finish, options and performance and plushness. Most are built well and of course you get what you pay for.
I owned 2 Sundancers and loved them both. My Tracker now is a good toon, It seems corners were cut in areas that are not structural. If you look under a toon you will find so difference in cross members, rails, panels, brackets, and attachment hardware

Well crap, I thought my search was done but I just got an email from another guy with an 03 Bennington 25' tritoon with a 5.0 in it. It sounds like the interior may need repair but is cheaper and has less hours. Its 8 hours from me in another direction so I cant do both in one trip. What to do.

Well I am having a tough time getting the guy to get pics for me of the Bennington and its not a 5.0 but a 4.3 so Im going tomorrow to look at the Lowe. If we like it and its what we expect we will probably bring it home.
