fisher 240 tritoon questions

#1 Post by tfstein » Mon Jun 01, 2009 7:51 pm

Hello everyone. This is a very informative forum. I wish i would have found this before i purchased my first pontoon as i would have had plenty of questions but know i guess you will still get them lol. I think i bought a good toon but what do you guys think, and also do you for see any up coming problems with the pontoon. It is a fisher freedom 240 dlx tritoon with a 150 optimax. i have had it out twice so far and seems to be a very nice pontoon. There are not alot of pontoons where in South Dakota and i was kind of limited in choice around here so i drove out of state to purchace it but it wasnt to bad of trip kind of fun actually. Thanks for the input and the great forum.

Welcome
Got a 150 opti myself, pretty sure you are good there. Fisher is a good looking boat. What year is the tri toon?
Can't go too wrong with a tri toon with a 150, so it sound like you are in good shape. Couldn't imagine any problems coming up, just keep it covered and do a little routine maintenance.

buy the repair manual for your engine and read it in the bathroom.
you'll be amazed how much you can learn about it that way.
some day on a lonely lake or river you'll be glad you did.

congrats on the boat!

the fisher is a 2008. Ive read a little about the broken transoms lately on some of the posts and am a little concernd because i trailored this boat back 700 miles with the motor at about a 45 degree angle as per the instructions of the place i bought it. I sure wish i new about a transom saver before the trip. I keep the boat two hours away and will be there this weekend to inspect everything the best i can. I will hope for the best. Thank you

Wouldn't worry too much. Now if you traveled down 700 miles of dirt roads with a lot of pot holes maybe. Since the boat is new you probably didn't do any damage. I am sure I trailered my old toon a few times like that and never caused a problem. Inspect it like you said next time you are down. Think a few of the transom problems I have read about are due to bad welds.

I love my 150 Opti. Lots of power, fairly quiet and reasonably good on fuel as far as boat motors go.
