Dangit. It happened again. Those pesky holes, you try scrubbing them out, you try soaking them out.

Why oh why can't I stop drilling large holes in my boats? I must admit that the RotoZip hole attachment does very neat work.

Things I recently built for this winter's boat work:
Engine hoist beam. As I can't fit the boat into my pole shed anymore, I had to settle for backing just the motor bay in. Just a few inches of clearance on either side. The beam is 4 lamenated 2x10s glued and bolted together. Then stood on 5x6 posts about 2' inside of my doorway and braced a million differant ways with lots of very large and very long lag bolts. The impact wrench got a good workout that day.
Image

I had to back the boat within an inch of the wall to get the motor under the hoist.
Image

Still had to push the motor an inch forward to pop it out!

Image

Aand it's outta there!
Image

Final note on the beam: I will also be able to use it to pick up the rear of the boat. Along with two cherry pickers at the bow I will be able to 'fly' the boat and pull the trailer out so I can acid wash properly :nana

I LOVE that thing. I used it many times last summer. It has been bulletproof so far and I am guessing it will remain so for years to come. I am just coming out of a hard-drive swap and somehow can't get my 'backed up' emails back at the moment. That includes the name of the dealer in Texas that just opened up. Here is the link to the Aussie site (you might want to sit down before you look at the prices)http://lonestarmarine.com.au/Drum%20Anc ... inch%20600
In this case, you DO get what you pay for tho.

Hey Todd, is that factory vinyl on your floor? I figured it was since I have the same in my ski well on my new Ty special, I'm going to remove the carpet on mine and install vinyl in its place since we fish alot BUT I wanted a grey with a white mixed in like yours not just a plain grey... My reason for this is, on my last toon I had the pontoon stuff solid grey vinyl and it showed everything but mostly salt. Since I boat in salt water I was occasionally taking a wave over the bow and it would leave salt in the groves of the vinyl and I could not get it up... Solution, get a grey vinyl with white and the salt won't be noticeable... :lol3 :lol3 :nana

Hey Ryan. That is why I never put in solid color carpet in my house. I am just too messy and need to hide the evidence :biggrin2
Brand of this stuff if memory serves is Nautilex. I laid it myself without too much trouble. Getting the old carpet up on the other hand :x

I had negotiated with the Aussies. At that moment in time, they were just expanding to a dealer in Texas. I can't dig out that name right now as I can't retrieve my email archive. My rig actually came from Texas I'm pretty sure. Email the Aussies (I remember his name is Malki) and they will give you the name of the Yank to deal with.
Edit:
I just got into my email archive here is the US dealer-tell them Todd sent you

I'm getting ready to order the winch from Texas. (I think) I'm going to use a Delta 14 lb anchor. I see that your bow roller has a second roller at the rear. I like it. Is it also a Ausie unit. Do you remember which one (part #)? Or, is it from the US?

kind regards,

Rascal

You know quality my friend. This roller I had to search hard for as it is discontinued now. I wanted it and that particular anchor as I had used those exact models before on a large cuddie and knew that they worked perfectly together.
I did find a couple on ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/Anchor-Roller-P ... 3c&vxp=mtr
Why they stopped making them, I have no idea because it is bulletproof.

That ebay attached above, sure looks like the one you used (2nd roller). I better jump and order it. Good price also. The one's I was looking at had only one roller and were in the $175+ range.

Again..... THANK YOU

More things I built enroute to this winter's mods:
Every winter, I end up building some sort of tent over one thing or another in order to provide minimum heat while I work on a sled, boat or whatever. I have a heatable garage, but some of these projects take up a lot of room and may take weeks or months, so I usually hang a large blue tarp from the ceiling of my pole shed and put a propane heater in it. It takes a fair bit of doing and is a pain in the ass.
Well, this year I got sick of building EVERY year and made myself a pretty cool temporary, yet reuseable room.
The old cover that tore off of my round top shelter for Al the Mirthmaker provided just enough raw material, besides being pretty stought.
Getting fancy, I built an 8'x10' frame out of pvc, hung some lights on it and proceeded to cover it with the plastic. Each corner is Velcroed together so that I can flip any or all of the walls up onto the roof structure as needed. I also hung each corner of the structure from a semi-elaborate setup of pulleys. All ropes end up coming together to one final pulley and rope.
The final effect of this over the top build is that I can flip all four walls up and then pull the WHOLE structure up to the roof of the pole shed so that it basically disappears in the summer when I don't need it.
I had some leftover insulation that went on the roof. A bit of heat and some MP3's and my mini man cave was ready. My buddy called me 'Inspector Gadget' when he saw it :lol3
Note the pile of band gear in the first photo. One pile of MANY :guitar

Right now it is making for a pretty cozy 'motor room'. Even at 20 below. Which it is about to be in a day or so. :scared Crud.
