Re: Welcome
Hello from Sunny Tampa Bay,
I have been a lurker on this site for a few months. Been looking @ a variety of new & used toons. I just could not justify the cost & depreciation of a new toon or a toon a few years old that needed interior. So, I took the plunge with a budget minded toon. I know your thinking nothing is budget minded especially a boat/toon. A starting investment of $ 1200 for a freshwater toon, a running 40 Jonson & a junk scissor trailer.
I would like to thank all of you for your posts & your experience with toons.
Regards, Mike

Re: Welcome
Hey Folks,
I just joined. I'm in Winnipeg and I mainly fish northern Manitoba and Lake Winnipeg (the Big Windy).
I bought a 1997 16' Premier with 24" tubes and I put a 1987 30 horse Yamaha oil injected on her. I also have a bow mount Minnkota electric troller. I haven't fished in it yet and I'm hoping to learn a bit about possible modifications to the seating, etc. and learn some anchoring techniques. My biggest boat has been a 14.5 foot aluminum, but I've run bigger ones. I bought the 16' because I access many lakes with poor or no launches. I put the 30 horse on because I had it and I'll see if it meets my needs.
Thanks in advance.
Oh...and fyi, for those American buds of mine who probably aren't on this forum, last year the Province of Manitoba chose the Walleye as the provincial fish and called it "walleye"! I never heard the word until my uncle came up from Minnesota in the late 1960's. Everyone I ever knew called it 'Pickerel" and I grew up in mining towns all across the North. Forgive me in advance but I ain't changin' now. Don't get me wrong. I not blaming Americans...I'm pissed that our government did this because they want to attract more American Tourist fishermen and evidently think you guys don't know we have walleye here. By the way, you are always welcome up here.
Later,
Helpless

Re: Welcome
Hi folks !
Greetings from Smith Mountain Lake, VA.... I see from the map locator, there are 3 other forum members at SML.
Brand new to the forum..... Just traded our 2007 Sea Ray 250 SLX with a 496 in on a soon to be built 2015 Berkshire 233 RFX STS Tritoon with the performance 3 package and a 200 Yamaha. Should get the new toon in 6 to 8 weeks. Obviously, no pics to show yet.
We had several opportunities to ride on our friends year old Bennington 2250 GSR and loved it..... found out you can actually talk while still cruising along... unlike the Sea Ray. We were just ready for the change. Can't wait.
I'm sure I'll have questions along the way, but will certainly do a search first, before posting.

Re: Welcome
Just joined yesterday. I'm looking at a 20' toon w/50hp Honda. No furniture on board, just the center console and empty deck.
I've been boating/fishing for a long time and recently decided on a toon platform for the grandkids.
Thanks.
