Re: xcursion pontoon boat
Looks like his front bimini was installed backwards? Or maybe it doesn't matter which way the frame faces...?
The bracing on mine matches the rear frame. Also on mine they can be zipped together to create one huge bimini covering the whole boat.

I have a similar setup with a single bimini. But where did you get that dog ladder. Would love to take my lab on the water but I would never get her back in. Never seen that before.
Don't let life make you look weak. Be like a duck. On the surface keep cool and smooth, even though you're paddling like hell underneath.

front bimini is from overtons and installed that way because you don't want any obstacles in the port and starboard doors, aka vertical 1 1/4 tubing.

Re: xcursion pontoon boat
Makes sense, didn't realize it was aftermarket. The Xcursion front bimini can be mounted the other way around and does not block the port and starboard doors.
Unfortunately mine was damaged this week when the boat lift people were installing a cradle in my lift. They didn't pay attention during a lift and raised it up into the motor which chewed a hole in the cover and the bimini. They are paying the replacement costs for the bimini @ $530 dollars. I'll have the wife sew up the hole in the cover and the frame was fine, thankfully.

Re: xcursion pontoon boat
Raised the motor to the top hole and did some testing this weekend. With two adults and a kid, plus ~1/2 tank of fuel and an open rear bimini; we hit 36 mph GPS, trimmed out. This was up from my previous best of 33 mph GPS with the same load and the bimini closed. I picked up almost 300 RPM from raising the motor two bolt holes, and I'm now at ~5600 RPM. I'll have to try it again sometime with the bimini closed.
My steering is a bit lighter and the boat feels a little more nimble, and is quicker. My cruise speeds between 3000-4000 RPM are higher and should be more fuel efficient since I now have less drag. I imagine once the motor fully breaks in I may see a little more RPM, perhaps after the 20 hr service. Also when the temperatures begin to cool down that should make a nice difference too. August in Houston is very hot and the water feels like bath water.
I am happy with these results, even though yesterday when I tested with a heavier load up front (4 adults, 3 kids) I needed to trim down below neutral in a tighter turn or it will ventilate the prop. However, when pulling a tube and making sharp turns most people are in the back of the boat watching the fun so that helps to keep the prop hooked up better.
Speaking of props, I am happy with the Enertia over the Reliance. I think the Reliance might be a slightly faster prop since its a smaller diameter, but the Enertia hooks up better from what I can tell. The Enertia will vibrate the boat a bit when at the slowest idle speed, but bump the throttle a hair and it smooths out, no problem.
I would say from the Xcursion dealer they should mount the motor with one hole up instead of two, at least on the "XS" package with the 3/4 middle-toon. They could even mount it at the top hole like I did but some people who carry heavy loads frequently might not want to trim down so low in a turn to avoid prop ventilation.
Hope this helps!

So with the motor all the way up.... Can you get the cowling off without hitting the Ski / Tow bar ???? I already nicked my cowling at the 4th hole.... Maybe yours is different...

Re: xcursion pontoon boat
I opted to get the turbo swing on my boat. It bolts to the engine mount on the transom, so if you bolt the motor up higher, it also bolts up higher with it.
I looked at the Xcursion ski-tow bar but its really meant for skiing and not tubing which is all we do. I can see how that might get in the way if you are moving your motor up.

Re: xcursion pontoon boat
Do you remember which top you purchased from Overtons? Dealer wants 2900.00 to install the front bimini top on my 21RFC so I'm passing and going into the secondary market. Are you able to put your storage cover back on or have any issues?mobldj wrote:front bimini is from overtons and installed that way because you don't want any obstacles in the port and starboard doors, aka vertical 1 1/4 tubing.

Haven't had a chance to test it out yet but I will report back when I do.Littlehoe wrote:how do you like the turbo swing?
On another note...It seems Xcursion will not provide replacement bimini covers. They will only provide replacement material, then you must take your bimini frame and have it custom tailored to your frame. They will not do it for you. To me this is mind boggling and a huge pain in the rear.
So be careful with your bimini tops folks. Apparently they wont sell you another top without a frame...

Just bought a Turboswing xxl for my xcursion with the yammy 115, The xl would have fit but I like the idea of the extra room around the engine so I went bigger.
