Quality troubles ahead for Mercury Marine?
Seems the union at Fond du Lac just shot themselves in the behind big time. Mercury will be oving manufacturing to Oklahoma in the next three years. I expect a huge quality drop off from Wisconsin built motors.
Here's a discussion on www.frerepublic.com about it. The discussion is worthwhile reading for background info.

OH and pray tell why is that? Is it because we have no union goons? You think we Okies are stupid? Mercruiser are top of the line I/O's and made in Stillwater Oklahoma. Oklahoma is a right to work state thank god as we don't need union bullshit to produce a HIGH QUALITY product.

Unions are killing every American company from the car companies to boat manufacturers.

Hey Lakerunner. Chill for a moment and read what I wrote again. I expect the quality to drop on WISCONSIN built motors. The OK built ones will still be great.lakerunner wrote:OH and pray tell why is that? Is it because we have no union goons? You think we Okies are stupid? Why you ask? The union goon workers in Wisconsin have no reason to perform. Their jobs are lost already anyway. I expect lots of sabotage of equipment and products coming out of the Wisconsin plant. (That's what liberals do you know, cry and whine. And then when they don't get their way, they try to break stuff)
BTW, You will NEVER hear me supporting a union. I see them as an anti-biblical organization that exists solely to deprive the property owner of his rightful property. (If you ever read something by me that looks like it may be supporting the union you are misinterpreting it badly. Please bring it to my attention so I can reword it more clearly)

How does that go? Cut off your nose to spite your face?
I wonder how many thousands, if not millions, of jobs the unions have effectively eliminated in this country? Not just jobs moved overseas directly, but potential jobs that never materialized due to union shop tactics.
I know Ohio (where I'm from) is an economic wasteland due to unions and democratic rule.
Do you think we can turn the ship around when we're just like Argentina? Might be a little late by then.

No problem. I figured it was just a quick misread.lakerunner wrote: My apologies for misreading what you said. We here it so often that if it ain't in the east or west that to be bad because we don't support Unions like they do. Again My apologies

Re: Quality troubles ahead for Mercury Marine?
I was a little surprised on the vote. It said as I drive by the plant a few times a week, and it will not be the same without the plant. Rumor in area is that Mecury is running at 50% of previous years sales.
The local news said it would cost the area a total of about 6000 jobs. Since a lot of suppliers will be affected.
It surprising because the paper mills went thru a similar thing in the past few years, and now some have just shut down.
Only good news for area is that Oshkosh Truck got a billion dollar contract and will do half the work in the area. (I have not fact checked that contract, but believe its true)
Anyway, lots of unemployed people in area.
