Mercury motor repair

#1 Post by Xscash » Thu Oct 08, 2015 3:14 pm

Hey guys, I'm tearing down a motor, 60hp 4stroke Mercury bigfoot, that swallowed some water. Most likely bent a rod. Is there any place online to see a repair manual? I'm thinking about parting it but figured I would see how bad it would be to repair.

Thanks in advance,
Xs

Huge file. Thanks! I'll check it out, hopefully it matches what I need.

You may have heard of the "Hemi" motor....well Mercury came out with the "Curve". Must be a new design!

Yep! This is a 60Hp merc 4 stroke that ingested water at full throttle. No damage to cases or top end. 4 hrs labor and $150 in parts. Great afternoon repair.

Wow... It's great that you got off so cheaply on the repair! Did you pick the motor up as a salvage or was it already yours?

It was a buddy's boat. He just bought a new motor and was going to scrap the old one.....so I took it. It's worth some cash now!
