anchors for use on rivers

what types of anchors are being used for river fishing, would like to hold in semi fast water

Rock, mud, or sand bottom? Ours is mostly mud and sand and a box anchor holds us just fine.

^^ agreed. Get you wallet out and get the Box Anchor.

yes,
I did look at the box anchors, seems simple enough to cut and weld one up. How many pounds are the ones that you are using ? How many square inches are the one you are using ? is one enough or do I need 2 for opposite end of the boat ?

I considered doing this too. But the ones you buy can fold, and I believe are fairly light weight. I'm not sure I'd be able to fab one up that stores as easily as a store bought one. Or as light for that matter. Then again, I'm really amateur when it comes to metals and welding.
