A Motor Question

#1 Post by Rutcutter » Wed Aug 31, 2016 10:43 am

My boat has a 2005 Mercury 50 hp 2 stroke on it. I have had problems trying to find the best prop for it. The prop that works way better than any other as far as handling only gives me 4500 RPM when the motor calls for 5000-5500. I am new to outboards. How big of a problem do you guys see this as being?

Sorry to take so long to reply but I have been out of town. The 4 blade prop that gives me 4500 RPM is a 12x8. The 3 blade that gives me 5200 RPM is a 12x7. The boat handles better with the 4 blade and it feels faster than the 3 blade. I wonder if anyone makes a 12x7 in a 4 blade?
Did this tell you guys what you needed to know?
