Cancun

#1 Post by curtiscapk » Mon Dec 05, 2016 10:24 am

We are heading to Cancun to celebrate our 20 year anniversary which is on New Year's Eve. It'll be our first time out of the country. 1-12 thru 1-17. Since last year we didn't even know if I'd be alive, We're pretty excited! They have those 30 passenger speed boats we're thinking of doing. Anyone been on one?

Never been on one of those. Seen them but wont ride on any boat I'm not driving.

Have a good time.

Is it a Sea Screamer? I've seen one operate out of Panama City Beach. Looks like a blast for tourists! It runs well in open water near shore. Throws a huge wake.

Careful about what you eat or drink off the resort property. Montezuma and me got intimately acquainted for about 24 hours at a Club Med years ago. :nono Pack Imodium.

we really like going to mexico... been several times.... we figure, if you're planning a week's vacation, it's cheaper to hop a flight and do an 'all-inclusive' in cancun, playa de carmen, etc, than it is to spend that time in Florida...

anyway, i've never ridden those boats....

but, if you get the chance to visit http://www.chichenitza.com you should. the year we went there, you could still walk up the temple pyramid... not sure if you can now....

you'll have a great time.... after you get your luggage at the airport, grab a cold adult beverage for the ride to the hotel... you'll need the alcohol to tolerate the way people drive there!

Forgot to update this... Paula busted her knee 2 days before departure. Luckily we had insurance. We found a much better spot, it's an island called Isla Mujeres just off Cancun. We are on "our" own private resort on it's own little island. Leaving on the 23rd. Probably no excursions though we just want to chill.

HOLY HELL! Was that an awesome trip! We ended up staying at an IA on Isla Mujeres an island off of Cancun. Water was awesome never seen that color blue before. Our villa was right on the beach (2nd pic). Paula even snorkeled with me. That yacht anchored for 3 days right outside our resort. It was around 100 ft. 2 jet ski's and a 20 ft RIB IN THE BACK! We went for 5 days for under 3500 with airfare was a steal. PM me if you want info.

Hah, that blue and yellow boat is a technological wonder! I've ridden from Cozumel, back and forth to Playa Del Carmen, in super rough water, and the dynamically controlled stabilizers beneath the water keep it sailing smoothly.

Looks like you had a great time! Technology is grand I had an off to skipper a "swath" in Hawaii you could put a cup of coffee on the deck in 4 foot seas and no coffee spilled, and it moved at a good clip as well. Check out Grand Cayman sometime, its a little more expensive these days but it isn't mexico.

Take her to St Maarten some time. Dont have to worry about drinking the water! Ask for Nate the Great for a taxi. One of the finest folks you will ever meet. Tell him Larry and Connie said Hi and he will treat you well
