Fuel Supply Module

#1 Post by taylorjm » Tue Apr 18, 2017 11:39 am

Anybody open up the fuel supply module on a 90/115hp 4 stroke? Mine is a 2007 and I was reading that there's a small hose inside the module that deteriorates from ethanol, so I ordered a new one and was going to be proactive and replace it. There's a lower bolt holding the fsm on that I can't get to! Maybe I have to remove the lower cowling? I was hoping to not have to remove the fsm completely but pull it out and open it up.

Mercury calls it a Module, other's are referred to as a VST Vapor Separation Tank, Ethanol is a killer, for some reason the mercury fuel pumps inside just get destroyed from the water that collects due to ethanol and long storage. Here is the last one I worked on, you can see the "hose" you are referring to, the black one. This pump was completely seized and had to be replaced. DON NOT Use ethanol fuel..

I wish that was an option. I've never seen anywhere within an hour from me that has 100% gasoline. Also mine is plastic and in a spot I can't seem to remove the lower bolt without removing the entire lower cowl, which means the steering cable too I think.

Actually, I did find an option that's just past where I exit to go to my lakehouse. So I may be able to get the gas cans and try it.

Huh, that's about 2 miles from my house, and I go by there at least 4x a day. I'll have to check that one out. They were just rebranded with bp gas a few months ago, maybe they added it, or removed it. Thanks!
