Before you spend the money on a new motor, you should see what an ECU reflash will get you. SImon’s motorsports can reflash a 60 to increase HP. I am sure that it will not get you to 115 but it may be enough. I just got mine done for my 2009 225 Verado and they took me to 348 Hp and an 11 mph increase. For $870 it was a lot cheaper than the 20K my dealer wanted for a new 300 hp Verado.
Interesting---ever heard of anyone doing this to a 90 Merc Optimax? And is it something a pro would have to do--not a plug and play I would assume?

I just emailed Simon Motorsports this morning and got this reply regarding my Optimax 115:
"If you’re having problems with your motor and want us to look at your ECU for repair, we can do that, but it’s not going to get you any more power. Unfortunately there’s nothing I can help you with in that regard, sorry."
*Guessing maybe the man got to them.

Welp, motor is being installed hopefully today. Now it's time to figure out what kind of prop on I want on there. Most of you guys go stainless? I had aluminum on the old 60, but thinking I might just spend the $$$ to go stainless this time.

Where you boat is there a chance of hitting logs, rocks etc? If so alum could save lower unit by bending or breaking 1st. SS is 87x more and won't bend....

Yes, I was told by my dealer that Mercury stopped Simon's from doing the ECU upgrades this year.
