I've pulled up my old carpet. Now, does anybody know how to get the mastic off??? I have an aluminum deck......jd

try carb. cleaner

after carb/brake cleaner, i'd probably try coil cleaner acid. but you need to check the msds and other warnings first.
they do make mastic removers that melt the stuff.
if none of those work i'd just use a belt sander with lots of big grit belts.
can you trim most of it off with a sharp putty knife?
if so, hire a kid to do that tedious part over several days.
(wait, kids today will probably cut their fingers off....)

acetone, rubbing alcohol, lacquer thinner...........don't know but worth a try an easy to lay hands on..
