General posting question

#1 Post by ROLAND » Sat Apr 17, 2010 11:22 pm

Hey guys... 2 questions for you about setting up your posts on this forum. I've noticed that whenever anyone leaves a post on the board, over to the left there's the person's name and in many cases a picture, usually of thier boat. Can somebody walk me thru how I can post a picture of my boat / boat with kids on it. I'm not talking about leaving a picture "in" the actual post, but rather over to the left hand margin where the poster's name goes... thanks... and 2nd question, everytime I come to this site I sign on, then 10 minutes later or so, I have to sign on again. For some reason I keep getting "logged" off. Anyway to prevent that... plus I've checked the box that says sign me on automatically, yet that dosn't usually happen either... any suggestions? Thanks guys ( & gals )

For the avatar got to user control panel, then profile, then edit avatar that is the little pic to the left I think there is a size limit to the pic and you will have to down size your pic to 150x150 I believe As for the signing out i couldn't tell ya

the logging in can probably be solved in the internet options. for instance when i visit my banking site i always click clear history, but by doing this i loose all my stored cookies, so i have to sign in again to email, forums etc. The settings in internet options give you a choice to accept cookies from specified sites. Also you may have to back off on your security setting, but i would leave that to last if the others don't do the trick.

Thanks Doc for the info... I wonder if part of my problem is because I generally access this site thru AOL. I've noticed when I go to the internet using my cable companys portal this problem rarely happens....

Yep, the logging off thing is more than likely your internet options. It is actually a good thing that you have to log in every time, but I wouldn't like having to do so every 10 minutes. Change your security settings to medium or something to that nature, this should solve the "cookies" problems with logging you off. Also, after about an hour, I believe mine auto logs me off too. I don't mind it as I know I am being exta careful.
