pontoon water glide

#1 Post by wrenchendave » Sun May 02, 2010 6:43 pm

Hey pontooners, have any of yall heard about or seen or rode on a pontoon with a pontoon water glide. Ive seen a website and a video on youtube with the difference this item makes in handling and speed. Was wondering if it were a bunch of hogwash advertising for a 2000 dollar item.

Gives you a rougher ride, you be better off adding a pontoon to your's and for about the same price.

Hello, I have added the Pontoon Water Glide to to my 1996 18 ft tracker. It does way more than adding a center pontoon would do not to mention the weight savings over a center tube. I gained serveral mph and my boat now planes just like a normal boat. There is no more noise or rough ride because of it being intstalled. Matter of fact, I can run faster at a lower throttle setting than before so I have less engine noise. I have pics with me driving boat, gps in hand, doing 37 mph.
Have not figured out how to post pics here yet so if anyone wants to see them, email me.

Certainly looks interesting from the website reviews. If it does as claims, it sure would be cheaper than upgrading an engine to gain a mild boost. I also like the fuel saving claims. The magazine test went from 7 gal/hr to 4 gal/hr at a 15mph cruise. Thats huge if true! If anyone one else here is using this, please tell us what you think.

Would it be worth putting on a 20 party barge with a 40 hp engine?

I do not think it would be worth your time with a 40. My 18 ft tracker had a 40 on it when I started. Motor was the first thing to go. Found a used 75 merc ( which is what the toon is rated for) and it made a huge difference only I was pushing a big sled through the water at 28 mph wide open. Water was going everywhere. That is where the glide came into the picture. First time out, when it actually planes out like my bass boat, I thought man this is sweet.
The guy who now owns the company is a great guy too. That is his toon in the video.

I was just going by what I read at PDB one or two liked it but a few said the ride of to rough and one guy pulled it and sold it and added the 3 toon.

But if it works and you like it is the main thing.

You can use imageshack.com to upload, resize and save them for you, then you just get the direct link and post them.

With the pictures posted on the image shack, if your computer crashes your pictures are safe, plus you can get to your pictures from any computer any where.

I read in another forum that PWG company has a new owner and price has shot up to two grand. Would it still be worth it at that price or would a third log with tap fins do the same thing? BMR should know since he the resident tap fin expert. :lol3 :lol3 :lol3

Depends on how much you want to keep you hull warranty or not. I was wondering why Malcom always posted pics of Tap Fins installed on junkyard or very old 'toons until I discovered the reason why he never had pics of them on new ones :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl
