Is your engine hard starting esp. when it's cold? One of my buddies said that engine is notoriously hard starting. I was thinking about some sort of fuel additive to help. I've always had diesels in my other boats and they fire up on the first crank or so.

No it runs fine, I have the TKS carburetor, no pumping the gas needed and warms up pretty quick.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong... I have a 06 model and I was told to pump it a few times before starting. I also noticed I have trouble finding the right spot with shifter to engage the starter. I found what appears to be a new lockout switch in a bag under the console. I'll bet if I change the switch, life will be better.

Do you have TKS ? Some '06 3.0 liter motors don't. If TKS, you shouldn't have to pump the gas at all. If not, you have to.
