Pink vs. Blue coil cleaner

Im having trouble finding AC coil cleaner to use on my toon logs. when I do find someone who is willing to sell me some they only carry the bule kind. Is it okay to use the blue stuff? Does it wok as good?

Im told I have to have a hvac lic. to buy the stuff

If I cant get my hands on the stuff whats the next best thing?

Do not use coil cleaner on pontoons, A/C coil cleaner is made to clean the junk off but it's main job is to make a bunch of little pitts so it has more surface area to cool the air.

On the pontoon that give your a bunch more area for junk to stick to and start growing.

I have never used the coil cleaner on my toon but I am in the HVAC business. The stuff we use is Green and does NOT pit the surface.. never heard of that before.

The reason they say you need a license is so that we are the only ones that can get it and we can gouge you when we come out for a repair

Want to bet I can buy the nasty stuff too, I can buy everything unless it's got freon in it and I'm just to lazy to get another certification, besides I got friends to do that for my customers.

I'll do the cleaning with the green stuff, the last one that the green stuff didn't work on and we had to remove it, so he sucked the system down and did the outside unit while I took the W coil out to clean with the acid wash.

I don't which on was dirty inside or the outside unit and it was in the corner just outside the sliding glass door and the dogs and cat must have rub against it all the time and it was full of hair and really quited down, we didn't have to move it around the corner after all, but that's where it should have been anyway.

I know the alumabrite they sell here for body work etches the aluminum, but I thought even the green would etch some just not as much.

Try some sos/ brillo pads. I have cleaned mine that way. It actually will leave some shine after clean. I have even used 000/0000 steel wool an some dawn dish washing liquid if they were not too dirty. Thing like the acid etc will leave them with sort of dark gray look.
Have not used the shark hide cleaner http://www.sharkhide.com/acinfo.html but the polish does a great job.

Depends on how dirty and rough they are and where you want to go with it, start with a course grit as you need to start to the finest, then go to rubbing compound and polishing compound and then on fine polishing grits for a mirror finish. it's dirty work, if you have a truck stop an hour or so away call and see if they polish aluminum and take it to them, BUT take off all the parts you don't want broke, like transponders and such.

I washed my toons with A/C condensor coil cleaner, which was pink. This does NOT pit aluminum, as if it pitted the condensor, it would leak. After I cleaned with that, the toons were like new and whiteish looking. After that, I wetsanded with 800grit, and then polished, and protected. I could have/maybe should have wetsanded further down to 1000 grit then to 2000 for a greater shine, but I didn't feel like adding another 12hrs. to my job, especially when I beach my toon at times, and it would just scratch her up more anyways.

a few years ago i washed my toons with a/c cleaner. first i tried the "non acid" stuff. it was worthless. i went back to the hvac guys and bought the acid cleaner. it worked great. you just have to be really careful with it regarding skin, eyes and not breathing the fumes.

The pits I'm talking about you have to see under high magnification, so no leaks, think dimples in golf balls micro sized
