attn: premeire owners a question for you!
So a buddy of mine has a 25' premier ptx with a 250 verado when he bought it he got 44mph gps after 3 seasons of use he can only get 27mph on gps. His bottom is not spotless by any means but he pressure washes the algae off often. Any one have a similar rig what is your top speed? What are u running for a prop? Thanks in advance!

What has he put on the boat? Is it a lot heavier?
People tend to bring things down to the boat every time they go out and leave them there.
If that is not the problem it is time to look at the motor. Is the WOT RPM the same?

I have a 25 ft Escapade with a 225 Verado. I get 40 mph at the first of the season when the toons are clean and will lose about 3 mph by season end. Boat is in the water all season. Toons are cleaned each year. Sounds more like a motor issue than prop or weight problem based on the amount of speed lost. I am assuming that he has not changed props since the original speed measurement.

When my boat was new I ran 47 mph on gps. Now the best I can get is 39 mph. The big speed killer was the swim step. Not only does it add alot of weight to the boat, but it lowers your X-dimension (prop shaft height relative to the running surface) because it is right over the drive. I have also added a big stereo, generator, batteries etc... Weight, and where the weight is placed makes a huge difference. I have thought about going with a shorty lower to try and get the X-dimension closer to where it was. If I had an outboard I would by an adjustable jack plate and get the advantage of more set back, as well as being able to raise an lower the X-dimension. Have you added anything to the boat?

Has he checked to see if there is any water in his logs? Is his prop still in good shape?

Interesting post. Other than water in one of the toons, or prop issues, I would not have a guess. Please let us know what you find out is/was the cause. I know it's not your boat, but I bet I'm not the only on here that would like to know what you find out is the cause.

I believe it is an Mercury Enertia. I will have to check on pitch as I don't recall exactly.
