Newbie from Chicago

#1 Post by Road Glide » Sat May 07, 2011 7:43 am

I have been hanging out looking at all the posts throughout this form. What a great resource. I finally picked up my first pontoon about a month ago. Plan on using it in Northern IL and Southern WI. The weather for my maiden voyage was 40 degrees and raining, but at least I got to go for a ride! Anyway look forward to participating in the forum.

Welcome aboard. Nice looking Toon. Glad to hear you were able to get out on your boat for the first time. Do you fish? :drink4 :drink4 Pepsi

I do fish. The main reason I bought the
Toon was to spend time with my family. My son loves to fish

I do fish. The main reason I bought the
Toon was to spend time with my family. My son loves to fish

Fishing with your Son no matter his age is the best way to bond for a lifetime. My Dad and I fished together for 40 years before he died. After that it took me nearly ten years before I could hardly wet a line. My Son was gone off to the Marines and College so it just wasn't fun to do it anymore and especially alone. My Dad, He's been gone 20 years and I still often think about all the good times we had together and I cherish even every one of them, even the times we had spats ____? Now my Son who lives 135 miles south of me and I fish every chance we can together. Three of my Four Grandkids like to fish too, so every summer we have them for a week or longer to camp and fish. My Son and I started a ritual about ten years ago. A Father and Son Camp out for a week to Ten days every Fall. We just boat ride, Fish and hang out together during that time. No Women just him and I. We look forward to it every year and before he leaves to go home. We are already planning or thinking about next year. SPEND TIME TOGETHER DOING WHAT YOU ALL LIKE TO DO. That's what great about a pontoon. It slow and relaxing and a great way to get to know each other. Family and friends included. SPEND TIME TOGETHER. Not running 40-50 MPH down a river or a Lake shore with the Motor screaming so loud you can't hear anything but the motor roaring. SPEND TIME TOGETHER not with the radio blaring so loud you can't even carry on a conversation. Oh Yea there are times when that's OK but just floating, putting or anchored in some little cove is where you really get to know each other. That is quality time.

WelcOme to the forum.... Yep, spending time w the family is great.... And what a great way to do it, but on the water, away from the TV! Even bringing iPad full of favorite videos - the iPad is quickly discarded!
