Do you know how many hours are on the motor? The dealer can scan it out and tell you.

A big hit on an old motor is water in the foot. That is why I said to look at the oil.
On the boat you can have pits in the hull, cracked welds (water in the toons), spongy spots in the deck, usually around penetrations and all of the cosmetic things you can see (condition of the seats, carpet etc).
Other than that you spins the wheel, you takes your chances.

Ive always tried to save money, I work in Law Enforcement and my wife works for the County Register of Deeds. With 2 car payments a mortgage and 2 kids I totally understand the point of trying to save money anywhere you can which is why I have mostly bought used. With that being said I have terrible luck and I always seem to buy a lemon and I have found that spending an extra 1-3 grand when financing is worth it to me because I have full coverage on an investment that I plan to keep forever. Also you are able to take care of it from the very start, and you do not have to worry about what the previous owner did that you will never know. I bought a used boat and I had it for 2 seasons, now it sits with the motor blown up and im out of a boat which is why I am going to get a new one and nothing else.

As far as the warranty on the construction as greg said, call a Bentley dealer and ask them about the lifetime warranty, if it passes for more than the original owner. The only problem I see with this is people wanting to replace anything they can once the boat changes hands, other than that I dont see why Bentley would have a problem with it since they are so sure about their product

Very good points. I may just take it to a dealer and have their guys do a full inspection, I would rather pay hundreds for that than waste thousands on a lemon. Do you guys think that would be enough to get a really good picture of the condition of the boat and what I can expect from it?

I will keep the buy new option in mind and see what I can find. If I do buy new would it be a good idea to save money by going with a 90hp over a 115hp or will I regret the power difference? Keep in mind that I never regret paying for power in my motorcycles (current 1450 Harley) and any other vehicles, I just don't have any point of reference to know the difference in boat motors especially one not made for power/speed. I would like to be able to tow a tube or wakeboard if possible and have fun with that.

Im not tracking, Do you mean would we be able to tell you what to expect from a picture?

As far as the diff. between 90 and 115... Someone correct me if I am wrong but maybe 7-8 mph difference depending on load?

You will be able to tow with a 90.

All in all man you need to do what is going to please you the most, if you want a boat with a 250 then you need to get it, oterwise you are not going to be happy. Test drive a boat with a 115 and with a 90, and then go from there.

picture as in a representation of the condition of the boat. Just wondering if a dealer inspection will be enough to avoid a lemon.

Good point, I'll test drive the 115 on Thursday so that will at least give me an idea of what I am dealing with. Maybe I'll go with the dual 250s that I saw a picture of :biggrin2 (not likely, the wife would veto that for sure)

Just take your time and get what you want.... Toons are at top dollar right now, and its not like there wont be a summer next year. Get what you want so you will be happy even if you shop around all summer.
