Where do you get tune up stuff at ?

#1 Post by jrboatin » Sat Jan 31, 2009 9:54 am

I will have to do a tune up in the spring, 155 Mer 4 stroke, like spark plugs, filters (oil and fuel), lower gear oil and water pump.
Is there a special place you may order them from?
Or do you just go to local stores like Cabelas or ?

I buy mine at my Merc dealer or if I am going to Bass Pro I will get some there.

I still love it as if we just got it. Sure there would be a few things I would like to change (only cause of learning things after getting it), but other then that we still love it.

I just seen some items on Ebay and were wondering if there are cheaper.
Like water pump kit $30.00 on ebay, wonder what dealer would charge.

Thanks

Water pump kit is the housing and impeller, sometimes includes gaskets, 0-rings, new bolts, etc.

boatfix.com -- george will answer any question and he knows everything.

i have an i/o so although my water pump is in my lower unit it's probably a
little different than the outboard pumps. anyway, the point is, my water pump
kit includes the impeller, o rings and plastic top housing but not the (thicker
and heavier) plastic pump base. i ALWAYS buy a base and replace it anyway.
if i'm going to go through the work, i'm gonna spend the 20 bucks for the new
base. i also use only the lubricants called out by merc. they cost a couple
bucks more but each tube or can lasts for years anyway.
