The cover for my 12 year old boat is the original that came with the boat. It was once dark blue, but now it is almost off white on the top and a couple of seams have opened up at the corners. It repels water for the most part, but after a heavy, all day rain some water will seep through.
What product would you recommend to make it repel water better?
How would you repair the seams?
Being the frugal type I would like to avoid buying a new cover for as long as possible.

I would find someone that does canvas yo get the seams done correctly. Duct tape and glue won't work. As for repelling water, 303 makes some stuff for tops that works great. I would fix the seams first though. http://www.303products.com/shop303/inde ... -guard.cfm

pretty much what carl said. being 12 years old i wouldn't put too much into salvaging it though. the guys with the big sewing machines value their work fairly high.

That's for sure!! I just priced a new cover for my barge...it is a bit larger than some, and the upper sundeck supports need to wrap around them and close. My cover has made it since 1993, so its waaaaaay past time. But i still think over a thousand bucks is insane!!

Stuff it high, they mainly use the sunbrella surrey tops on the boat lifts here an a replacement top runs 1800 to 2k for the fabric only. Think I paid about 500 for my fitted boat cover but they have probably gone up in the last few years like everything....
