Too many years driving with the DOT/FMCSA people breathing down my neck.
I strap down the back of the boat with two straps and then have a second strap in the front in addition to the winch strap.
I simply think of it as "Prudent".

My trailer has an integrated tie down bracket on each side rail and a sticker that says to always strap down the transom. In addition to rear rachet straps and winch strap, like many others on this forurm I also add a ratchet strap to the bow and loop it under the trailer tongue. On my last boat, I added an eyebolt to the tongue and attached a tie down to it.
I have seen enough photos of toons and other boats that slid off their trailers & onto the highway to make me want to have mine as secure on the trailer as I can.

Issue solved : Moved the boat forward about 6" and strapped the front & rear, problem solved
