Thanks guys, If we didn't have my brother's building to work in, we wouldn't have been as far done either, yesterday the way the wind was blowing, fast and cold, you couldn't haven't got a thing done outside, it would have blown our vinyl away.

We quit at 10 pm last night, it was 46 in the building because we didn't bring the patio heater in to heat the place up, I know 46 sounds warm till you add in our humidity, then it's a lot colder, I know I been up in Kentucky in 26 degree weather and didn't think it was that cold, then a day later be back in Fla at 52 and freezing my butt off :rofl

It's cold today, 52, but with a little heat, the body filler should work for us while we getting the fence panels ready to paint

i'll keep it quite while Craig is napping, but mean ranch back at the while, we used body hammers and dolly's to flatten out the panels the best we could and then put on the body filler to even it out, we finely stopped working last night when we had everything covered in dust, we going to wait till it warms up Tuesday and do them outside, well that and the fact my Monday is screwed up with a 2:30 Dr appointment.

We are still shooting for that new look, who knew it would mean all this work :rofl

Herb -- You're rebuild is looking great.

I bought the same Alpha vinyl kit from pontoonstuff and will be laying it down tomorrow afternoon. How did that part of your project go? Was it easier or more difficult than you expected? Any last minute tips you can give me? Thanks for posting the pictures of doing your floor. I know a little more what to expect now. Thanks.

Well we were thinking we could let the sundeck go till later while we were getting the panels ready for paint, then we both said it at the same time, we have to build the sundeck supports and get it painted at the same time, DUH!

Since I had a fishing model, it has 18 inch fences in the rear, so we had to raise them 10 inches to match the engine enclosure and middle fence hight of 28 inches, we figured no big deal, all we need is one 90 bent in 2 square tubes, about 56 inches with three legs, we can order the material for 50 bucks.

So we headed to the fab shop to check on price, but stopped and looked at a fence that came off a 24 footer our engine guy had for sale for 150.00, it had some pieces we could use, but still thought we could get it made cheaper, so headed down the road.

Took our parts in the fab shop and told them what we needed and asked for an estimate, he came back with 500 something after cutting an hour labor off, well after we got back up off the floor, we decided we needed to go buy that fence and cut the parts we need out of it and scrap the rest, then come back and have it welded if our Buddie can't get to it.

Here we are cutting parts, OK Mike is cutting and I'm taking pictures

So we got one figured, so all we had to do is reverse what we did first, and yes we removed the snap buttons.

Now cutting the other side, we put the miter saw to work too.

Image

Not looking to bad

We put a piece of old flooring on it to see what it would look like, we have to wait till the engine is hung to see how wide we can make the deck, I would like at least four inches over hang for a stop, I'll also use a rope stop so the hinges won't get hurt if you open it in a strong wind

You are too a great job Herb. You are doing exactly the same as I did when I was restoring my '84 JC pontoon. I used 1-1/4" square tubing to match the existing fence & had it all welded together & it turned out great. I LIKE the way your fence railing has turned out too. I'm hoping to get mine to shine up this spring as I want to re-do several things on my boat.

What color it your vinyl. On my computer screen it has a "pink" color appearance to it. I LIKE it. :lol3 Wish my pockets where deep enough right now to buy as I would go with it in a minute. You are going to wind up with a really nice pontoon when you are done. Keep the pictures coming.

Have a roll of masking tape handy, you will want to tape it down all around the edges. Use a GOOD roller. Just like rolling linno, you can't skimp. You need some thing heavy yet narrow,
