I keep one extendible oar/hook onboard. Never had to use the oar half but the hook side has come in handy.

I keep one on my boat.........don't think it would be of much use unless it was a very calm day. I don't get too worried about it....Chautauqua Lake is small enough that a cell phone will always work, and the local sheriffs dept. will give disabled boaters a tow. Worse case scenario....if I were to get blown close to shore, it would be easy enough to hitch a ride back to the cottage.
