update on prop question

#1 Post by GGALVIN » Mon Jun 27, 2016 6:59 am

I guess I forgot to mention in yesterday's prop question that my motor is a 115 4 stroke Command Thrust. So, the 14 x 11 prop would not be good? Anything else you would suggest for the 22' pontoon?
Thanks in advance.

I only commented since we have the same motor and (probably) similar weight, Yours may be a bit heavier as it is longer, it is a 2 tube if I recall? Mercury has a prop guide on its web site, which I wouldn't take as gospel, but when I put my #'s in it recommends pretty close to what I'm running. I can't Imagine anything close to 11 would be recommended.

With a Command thrust 115 on a 22' 2 tube I'd be looking at V6 case 3 blade props, 15"+ diameter and something around 14-15 pitch. Should put you right at 27-28mph with around the expected 25% slip for a 2 log

I have the 90 CT on a Suntracker 20dlx. Came from the dealer with a 15 x 15 black max. I couldnt get above 4600 rpm at WOT and the prop would lose grip at any amount of trim up. I switched over to a 16 x 11 quicksilver prop and now hit 5900 rpm at WOT with a top speed of around 25 mph (gps). I can now also trim up a bit without losing grip.
