Advice on a Godfrey Sweetwater 2568 DF

#1 Post by Dad of 3 » Sat Jul 11, 2009 9:30 am

Hello,

I'm looking at the Godfrey Sweetwater 2568 DF for my family. I have 3 kids, 9 yo DS, 5 yo DD & 2 yo DD. We want to be able to fish and pull a kid or 2 around in a tube and maybe even have them ski. The boat has two pontoons and a Yamaha 115 hp 4-stroke outboard motor. My question is, will this be enough power? Does anyone have a set up similar to this? Any pros, cons?

Thank you in advance.

Gary

It will adequately pull a tube if you don't have to big a load. If you can afford to bump to 150hp I think you would be happier. Or jump to a 3 log with strakes.

Welcome and good luck

Thank you for the input. This is a new 2008 on the dealers' lot and they have pretty good price on it. I wish that they had a triple or a boat with a 150HP but they don't. I may just need to wait a little while and see what pops up.

Thanks again,
Gary

I had a 2003 Sweetwater 2424DF (2 tube boat) with a 115 Yamaha 4-stroke. It would pull a large tube fine with 5 adults and one child on board. It was an excellent boat. I was so pleased with the quality of the boat and the excellent warranty service from Godfrey (replaced all of the carpet at just under 3 years because of it coming apart in two small places --boat sat uncovered at my dock for the 34 months) that I bought another Godfrey pontoon in 2006. I am very pleased with it too. I went to the 3-tube boat with larger motor not for pulling skiers or tubes but to be able to cruise comfortably at 25 MPH in rough water at 2/3 throttle.
