Just bought my first, now have some questions...

#1 Post by pepper1126 » Sun Mar 21, 2010 10:39 am

I just purchased a 2007 G3 25'. I have a few questions though for you experts. Do I have to get a waterproof stereo or can i get one for a car. also, what is the attachment called that I use to connect the waterhose to the motor when I am running it at the house? Thats it for now. we are so excited.

Not sure about the radio but ear muffs are what you use to run the engine in the driveway..

Congrats on the new boat. Think even walmart carries the muffs. Enjoy

I am replacing with a standard unit. We keep boat under cover and when on lake it is behind a good sealed door. There is a cup holder above it but it is one you can put a tube on to divert water or beer away from unit.

If it is well protected, a regular car radio will do just fine. I have use walmart car stereos and a splash cover for years with no problems. I also keep a cover on the boat. If you leave it uncovered, you might benefit from a "marine" radio.

Crutchfield.com carries both Marine radios and speakers. They are not much more that a normal car radio (I have a marine radio in my Jeep, after I drowned the first non-marine one). The colors of the marine products will match a boat better as well.

This was an 07 G3 that was a factory model and never left the facility in its life, we are the first owners. The Yamaha is 115 that has a warranty till the end of 2012.

I have found a place to keep it at a marina, they do annual contracts for a good price. what is the concensus out there on keeping your boat in the water year round? I thought about doing it quarterly but the price jumps up alot. would be nice to have it somewhere in the water all the time. what do you all think?
