Sink counter cracks, any repair ideas??

Our toon has been stored indoors since new. I'm not sure why the counter top has cracked like this. I've been thinking of covering the counter with like 1/4'' white plastic. Kind of like the material some cutting boards are made of. I'd bull nose the perimeter and sink cut out with a router. Any other ideas?

Yep that was my first thought. Might be able to find a small piece of granite left over from a granite installer. One of our bathrooms was done with remnants left from a big job they had put in. We got it half of their regular price an one third of what hdepot wanted for theirs. A piece that small should be fairly cheap.

Is it fiberglass or plastic, you can repair both and paint

I don't think with the texture and the way the materiel is split that repairing and painting would look very good. I was thinking of a thick plastic top over the current top.

I would use some fiberglass bondo, and do a skim coat on the entire thing, right up to the sink edge's bevel. Then sand her smooth, and paint it, and clear it. Wouldn't take much, and could / should look very nice.

I ended up buying a piece of textured ABS. I could only find it in black, but found some Krylon plastic paint that (even if it doesn't look like it in the pic) is really close to the pedestal color of the sink. I made a template and traced it with a silver Sharpie pen. I always keeps the silver ones in my tool box too, they're pretty handy. The ABS is easy to work with. Pulled the toon out of the garage Sat. after the install and a fresh toon polish to get ready for a day on the lake. After an hour or so in the sun in the driveway the plastic epoxy glue I used to attached the new counter top failed and I had to pull the top off and deal with the mess. Bought some Loctite PL in a caulking tube and let it sit over night. It survived a very sunny hot Sunday without an issue. It can be a bitch sometimes to get different plastics to adhere to one another.

That looks great. What a great job. I was about to suggest a Lowes product that is for bar tops. I don't remember the name, but it's $68 a gal. Porable epoxy. Search it, You can put designs in it, trinkets, photos, etc. I lost my table and have been thinking of making one with embedded shells and sand. The stuff is also called deca pour. Jake

If this fails again I bet you could get a cultured marble company to make you a new top for $100-150.
