Hi Laura and welcome. Congrats on your new boat. It's gorgeous! You'll get lots of good advice here. As someone else already mentioned, make sure you get insurance and towing (you never know...) and definitely take the Aux Coast Guard Beginners Boating Course. It's about an 8-HR class with a ton of very useful info. My class was split between 2 mornings over one weekend. There's a test at the end, but it was not difficult to pass. Plus, you'll get a discount on your insurance.

I bet you're thinking Spring can't get here soon enough!

Kim

Thanks everyone. :biggrin2 Kim, thanks for letting me the exam is not too hard. We are registered for the coast guard course in Nov. Husband and I are afraid we may not pass the exam :donno Yup, certainly can't wait for spring. So for now I will spend some time on this forum with all you other pontoon lovers talking about it. 3 years ago when my wife and I took our class the instructor we had did a very good job and we both passed quite easily with no previous boating experience what so ever. As long as you listen and retain what you hear you should do fine.

Very nice looking boat, congrats. If you are going to be on salt water, you will also need a flare kit with your other safety gear. You'll get all of that information again in your boating class I am sure.

I recommend joining BoatUS and signing up for the TowBoat towing insurance. Yes, the salt water option is a little more money, but it is a LOT less than one call for a dead battery, engine won't start, etc.
You found here a GREAT resource on just about anything that involves pontoons and boating. If you get bored, you can check out the link in my signature for more boating stuff.
Welcome and enjoy(that means USE) your toon!
