I just bought my first pontoon boat and would like to introduce myself to this illustrious group. My boating experience has been solely on sailboats with Diesel engines, so the anxiety level is a bit high with this gasoline outboard. I have already learned that you can't steer a pontoon when the motor is in neutral- there is no rudder.

Another sailor here, just bought a pontoon too with lots of questions ably answered by the members here. Great forum! Have learned a lot. Pontoon being delivered sometime in late March when there's water under the dock. Can't wait! Total newbie to pontoons and nervous about not being able to raise sail if engine dies. Welcome!

Thanks for the welcome, guys. I'm looking forward to this new form of boating. Now all I need is for this cold front to move on...

Welcome to the group...you're going to love your new pontoon.... laughed at what you said about not being able to steer the boat in neutral..... my first time out 2 years ago I panicked pulling up to the dock to pick up my wife.... found out real quick there is no brake pedal on the deck.... thank goodness I was barely moving.... if you have any questions, fire away, there is a wealth of knowledge ( and a few smart asses, of which I consider myself ) about pontoons on this board... don't forget to post some pics.

Welcome, Sailor...
You'll find the pontoon can act like a sailboat sometimes. It usually happens when you *don't* want it to... like, when docking/trailering the boat... Sudden gust of wind, and you'll move very much like a sailboat!

I think maybe the reason that you had trouble steering in neutral is that you had ur swing keel down a bit too deep
Welcome to ya, Paul. Nice looking boat.
