I've been saving a year or so longer, I've got about 30K to spend and still can't decide what to get.

Seems like everything you see you want is always about 10K more than you have.. what's up with that? lol

I am doing the same thing. I started saving my Social Security checks over a year ago and so far I have only bought the new motor. I am still leaning toward having a boat custom built. (the aluminum parts) and then making exactly what I want. I am still not going to have furniture but I may get a leaning post setup like a CC sport fish.
I am still looking for some nice boxes for storage/seating. They make some real nice dock boxes but I can't find them in the sizes I want.
I am using truck tool boxes now and they have worked great for 22 years.

You're budget gives you A LOT of flexibility. Wish I had that LOL If I had your budget, I'd be calling this guy and seeing if he'd take $20k ish for this:

Yeap, got me a big ole 2000 Suburban V8 w/tow package... she's towed everything I've ever needed to tow

I started looking for a toon in 2004 or 2005 and the goal was to find a good used boat. I wanted a 22'-24' as our lake can be choppy. I didn't want a go fast pontoon so I was not hooked on having a tri-tube but that would have been ok. Also, I wanted a 4 stroke for economy and low noise. Finally gave up on the used market, everything was either what you saw in the Craig's list add (as I am sure you are aware, dealers package boats w/the small motors to keep the cost down) or junk. I searched and searched new and finally bought a Bentley, 24' w/a Merc 115 4S and the dealer that gave me the best deal was out of NE Texas near Texarkana. They delivered it to me for $100 which was great for me. Still have that boat, family still loves it and it has held up very well.

Hey I hear exactly what you're saying, I can't believe what some of the used toons are being sold for... insane ! Plus its very hard to find everything you want in used boat.

Whats the NE Texas Texarkana dealer you got good deal through? You remember their name?

Also... anyone know the largest toon seller in Texas? I tried googling for info. but couldn't find it... seems I might find a better deal with a larger volume dealer?

I've already stopped by my local North Texas Marine Dealer... they got NADA for used inventory and almost NADA for even new toons that are way overpriced.

That is a nice boat, but as someone else mentioned, it's not a toon... of course you should buy according to what you plan to use the boat for... when I was shopping new boats about 2 years ago, dealer friend of mine offered me a Skeeter Bass rig with a 150 Yamaha on the back end... out the door for 15K even.... however even though the boat was new it was in reality a 2 year old boat that they had not sold, plus it had been sitting out on the lot in the elements for 2 years.... even so we were tempted, but in the long run, we wanted something that was 1- more comfortable ( we're not kids anymore ) and 2- would provide additional room to take family or friends out... for us, the toon was the only choice...

Decisions decisions.

This is NOT an easy process for sure.

My problem is I want watersports (wakeboarding & tubing mostly) + toon. This leads to a Tritoon w/large engine = $25k and NORTH (much north) = out of my budge unless I want to be boatless until 2014 (was hoping to get back into boating summer 2013).

I'm tempted to get 2 boats and come out cheaper = 1) 50 HP regular toon (these low powered toons are EVERYwhere here, they're basically the norm) + 2) Older Sea Ray or Bayliner for watersports (or maybe even some jet ski's) ???

I could probably buy 2 boats and still have more money leftover than if I bought one Tritoon w/large engine (assuming I can even find one thats good condition and used... they're almost impossible to find or so expensive that its ridiculous).

Thoughts?

You might try looking for a used Bryant. They are a very high end boat and you can get them used at a fair price.

EDIT: Well so much for finding a Bryant in Texas. Went to boat trader and none are listed.
